Some Things to Remember
Dr. Montessori reminded the adults who are responsible
for children of the following:
Each child matures and develops at a rate different from that of others-and
the rate changes over time; thus, comparing children of the same age
does not produce useful information but can lead to anxiety.
At school, the children are encouraged rather than pushed. The same
should occur at home.
Do not do anything for your child that he/she can do for him/herself.
Let your child use real objects rather than toy versions whenever possible.
Your child prefers to use the objects he or she sees adults handling.
Concentrate on strengthening and helping the development of what is
good in the child so that its presence may leave less and less space
for the inappropriate.
